Railcore II Drag Chain
Utilizes 20mmx10mm drag chain to clean up cabling. Uses approximately 25 chain links.
The Motor Side attaches to rear of your extruder motor. I added some thin (2mm) cork between the motor and part to give a bit of insulation - the motor can get hot during printing. Because of this potential heat, and the weight/motion of the chain itself it is suggested to use PETG over PLA. Atomic Filament's Carbon Fiber PETG is great, durable and adds some stiffness to regular PETG. The part attaches to the motor by replacing the motor's bolts with longer flat head bolts. Flat heads are required as they lay flush in the part and let the chain move freely.
The Frame Side mounts to your frame - either standard aluminum extrusion or 713maker Halo. The Halo variant is shorter to keep the chain level with the motor side. You will need (2) additional m3 nuts in you extrusion frame - hopefully you dropped some in during the build process. The part simply bolts down into the frame (through Halo if installed).
The BOM chain listed below has mounting holes which makes it easy and sturdy to attach. Other chains may be different and it's tough to support every possible chain, but if you need something different send me a message I'll see what I can do. But the chain below is inexpensive and good enough quality. The length of flat-head bolts needed depends on the depth of your extruder, but expect 20-30mm. To get an idea remove an existing bolt, measure it and add roughly 8mm. You may need to get a couple options as the final fit must be balanced with getting a good connection from the BMG as well.
Full Fusion 360 files available. Note that the file is currently designed for compatibility with the Halo, in order to make a standard extrusion version simply change the offset distance of the construction plane "Drag Chain Center-Line (13.7=Halo, 19.7=standard)", found in the root level component. However because I haven't had a chance to make the model fully responsive (Fusion isn't great about variants), if you do make the change be sure to adjust the centerline back to =13.7 before exporting the motor side as the hole location moves as well as frame side.
