Description
This is a lighter version of a previous design meant to take up less filamment and last longer before fully melting. The original version can be found here:
Summary
This is a working scalable pulse jet. I got it to run for a bit under 20 seconds before parts began to melt and it ran very stable and clean without needing a spark plug. To get it to run, I simply used a bicycle pump, a lighter, and some isopropyl alcohol. I printed it using regular PLA and it worked great. Steps to start the pulse jet:
- Add a tbsp of isopropyl alcohol if printing to 100% size (scale accordingly).
- shake and rotate at least 360 degrees to guarantee that the isopropyl alcohol has coated the walls of the combustion chamber.
- use a bicycle pump to provide a very slight breeze through the engine to help favor combustion (you only need air to start it and can stop once the cycles begin.
- Use a lighter and CAREFULLY get it close to the nozzle until it lights
