Description
I have expanded my original window bug screen project with a selection of functional, modular components designed to make assembly, installation, and daily use much easier.
This expansion introduces reinforced corner, side, and cross joints that feature a screw mount and small knob, making it easier to pull the screen out or snap it back into place without putting direct pressure on the mesh.
For users running an AC or ventilation hose, the window exhaust adapter has received a significant redesign. You can now choose between a version with an insect-barrier lip that seals the gap between the screen and the outlet, and a universal, flush-mounted version without the outer rim. This lip-free alternative is ideal for narrow windows and can be easily secured to any standard windowsill using double-sided mounting tape or hook-and-loop fasteners.
To complete the exhaust system, I've added a screw-on directional nozzle for the exterior of the window. This nozzle constricts the airflow slightly to push hot air further away from your house wall, preventing backdrafts while providing a much cleaner, streamlined look compared to a raw, hanging hose.
The mounting system has also been upgraded with new slide-and-click brackets. These brackets allow you to smoothly guide the screen frame into position and snap it tightly against the window sill, creating a noticeably tighter seal against bugs and ensuring the entire assembly stays secure against wind.
Finally, because friction fits can sometimes be stubborn, I've included a small push-and-tap tool. This handy gadget fits perfectly against the joints, allowing you to easily seat tightly fitting frame sections or safely tap them apart during disassembly without damaging your printed parts.
