Descrizione

Yes, you know you've always wanted to do this. Take those old Viewmaster reels, convert them to digital and share them with future generations! Well, now you can!

This simple device allows you to use your smartphone and digitize Viewmaster 3D images so that you and others can browse through them without the use of a stereoscope or Viewmaster apparatus.

Here's a short one-minute vid on how to assemble and process the files:

UPDATE: A suggested lens can be found at Edmund Optics America. The part number is 45294, the description is lens DCX 20x30 UNCTD TS and it costs about $27 as of 2/20/2020.

And here's my entire collection (you'll need to cross your eyes to see the 3D images):

If you decide that crossing your eyes just isn't your thing, I've included an index2.html file JUST FOR YOU! Oh, and you might want to print this thing out to help you with your poor un-crossable eyeballs:

Be sure to post links to your collections in the comments so we can all enjoy! (eventually, I'd like to make an iPhone app and host a service where everyone can post their collections... stay tuned!)

Once you're done scanning all your Viewmaster slides, you can pop out the 24mmx35mm rectangle around the square opening (in the midpane piece) and convert this into a 35mm film negative (or slide) processing lab! (you do know how to use 'invert' in Pixelmator and Paint, don't you?)
