Descrizione

Preface

This printer was built during my YouTube Series of the Transform3r. Although the series isn't really meant as a tutorial and would also be way too short, it should be easy to puzzle all the knowledge together to build this printer. I basically want you to look at it this way: If this jackass was able to build this printer without all these STL files and this Bill of Materials, I will have no problem doing it with all this help. It's basically just buying all the parts, printing the STL's and putting it together at this point.

Specifications

  • Build Volume: 220x220x450mm
  • Printer Volume: 460x460x300mm
Yes, that's not a typo; the build volume is higher than the actual printer. Though I'm cheating a bit, because I didn't measure the Z spindles for the total height.
  • Print Speed: This printer is not the bottleneck anymore for speed. It's the thermal conductivity of the plastic that's bottlenecking it right around 150mm/s.
  • Heated Bed
  • Inductive Bed Tramming
  • WiFi Connectivity using OctoPi

I want this printer but I don't have a printer to print these files!

There are companies out there that can print files for you. I've never used those services but that might be an option to look in to.

Getting Help

You will inevitably have problems when building a 3D printer. That's where the fun really begins. I'm serious. Problem solving is 99% of the fun. The last 1% is when you're finally able to print your own nighttime toys. The 3D printing community is huge and you will find specific documentation to everything you need to know online. If you don't, feel free to contact me (preferably on Instagram). But trust me when I say that I can smell when you contact me before doing your homework by googling the issue first. Of course I'm joking ;) Just contact me. I won't bite. Oh and @ me in your posts if you end up using some of my files! I'd love to see them! Or even better: share your makes here on Thingiverse!

Meat and Potatoes of this Post

To keep this post clutter-free, I put the BoM in a separate Google spreadsheet, which you can find here:
