Lemon Case

I had been planning to make this lemon case for a long time, since I don’t use lemons very quickly. I cut off a slice for tea, and after that the lemon just dries out. Before this, I used a regular plastic food container, but it constantly annoyed me. And when it eventually broke by accident, I decided to make a dedicated “home” for the lemon — a case where it could, so to speak, feel comfortable.

The model can be scaled to match the size of the lemons you usually buy. I chose a medium size for myself. In the slicer, it’s enough to scale all parts uniformly — this way you can both reduce and enlarge the model while keeping all proportions intact along every axis. Even in the base setup, I printed it at about 115% scale. This is exactly the size you see on the video — it’s the result of that scaling.

I printed the yellow parts from lemon-colored ABS, and the inner white insert with the thread from PET. If you prefer, everything can also be printed from PLA or PETG. People paranoid about “food and plastic” — please don’t bother me in the comments. I’m tired of answering these questions. Find yourselves a separate club for paranoids and tell each other scary stories there.

The lemon “tail” should be printed with a 0.2 mm nozzle and a minimal layer height — it’s too small for a 0.4 mm nozzle. All other parts were printed with a 0.4 mm nozzle. For the yellow parts — the lid and the base of the case — the fuzzy skin (uneven wall) mode is enabled. It adds a very expressive texture that closely resembles a real lemon peel.

You can see the assembly process on the video.

I hope you like this project. I certainly do.

I recommend downloading the project in 3MF format — everything is already preconfigured there.
