Description
*12/14/2018 There is a newer version that was released.
The ones that say v3 on them are the correct parts to print for the newest design. You will also need "microscope base" and "base plate" .STL files.
Updated features include:
- A new camera mount compatible with the Raspberry Pi 8MP camera
- Lego gears (I'm unabashedly an adult AFOL ( Adult Fan Of Lego ))
- Objectives are now easily screwed in to the bottom of the optical tube with metal internal threads
- A 32mm mineral glass for the platform
- Integrated stepper motor mounting
- A 3D printed rack attached to the optical tube
- Stronger over all
- Less parts to print
- Cheap as ever
This is a open source project that is pioneering a mixture of 3D printed parts and electronics. This Microscope has a significant amount of parts 3D printed. The project has a very detailed build log on Hackaday. Please follow the link to learn more. It won "Citizen Scientist" award for the 2016 Hackaday prize.

Description:
We are building a low cost IoT microscope based on the Raspberry Pi 3. Using easily changeable glass objectives. This microscope will provides various magnification. (40x, 100x, 400x).
The Raspberry Pi 3 will provide the necessary I/O pins for control of the stepper drivers and Pi camera, and will also facilitate the connection to multiple devices via a WiFi connection. Since it also has a built -in full size HDMI port, you can also simply hook the microscope to a TV or computer screen to view the camera.
Features include:
- Uses common microscope eyepiece and objectives. At the moment that includes a 10x eyepiece and a 10x objective for a total of 100x magnification.
- A stepper controlled Z axis.
- Remote WiFi control of Z Stepper and camera feed
- Dimmable LED light
- A slide platform that was printed solid with added spring loaded metal slide holders.
- Side facing focusing knobs on smooth running metal ball bearings.
- 160mm 3D printed tube to match the focal lengths of the glass lenses.
- Built in Li-poly battery to run the scope with out power infrastructure, Also a large solar array to power it in remote areas.
Enjoy!
