Description

This is a 10mm grid to fit over a 32x8 LED matrix, as part of a diffuser panel for the LED matrix. As the full 32x8 grid would be too long to fit on some print beds, this was designed to be printed twice, and the two 16x8 parts will fit together.

The squares are spaced on a regular 10mm square grid, their internal size is 9.2mm and the walls between each square are 0.8mm thick.

For a 32x8 matrix, you would print "32x8_matrix_v09.stl" twice.

For a larger matrix (e.g. 64x8 or 128x8), you would print "32x8_matrix_v09.stl" twice, and print as many "matrix_middle_v10.stl" as you need.

The "panel_end.stl" and "panel_mid.stl" are optional printable diffuser panels to cover the grid (note that I haven't tried these personally, as I used paper and perspex sheet to cover my own matrix).

The LED matrix came from ebay and was described as:
"WS2812B NeoPixel Addressable RGB LED Panel 5050 – 8×32 – 5V"
It looks very similar to these:
adafruit "Flexible 8x32 NeoPixel RGB LED Matrix" (PRODUCT ID: 2294)
Seeedstudio "RGB LED 32x8 Matrix (WS2812B) - 5V DC" (RB-See-420 / SEEED-104990128)

V10 Update 15/11/21

New middle section added
If you want an array larger than 32 pixels wide, I've added a new optional "middle section" which can be used to extend the matrix to an arbitrary length (in multiples of 16 pixels). This was a request from someone (I haven't tested it personally).
New panels added
Also added some printable panels/covers which are intended to be printed in white or semi-translucent material. Again, this was a request from someone which I haven't tried myself. These are modelled at 1mm thickness, but could easily be scaled to different thicknesses in your 3D printing software. Note: there are two different types of panel "panel_end" and "panel_mid", to suit the ends and middle of the matrix respectively.
