Description
The four 'Orders' shown here are:
DORIC - the simplest of the Greek orders.
TUSCAN - the Roman version of Doric.
IONIC - with large 'volutes' (scrolls) on the capital.
CORINTHIAN - the most ornate capital with curving acanthus leaves.
All the columns are designed with correct 'entasis', (the gentle convex curve along the shaft,) and the name of each order is embossed into the base of each column.
The DORIC column is 14cm. tall and is printed in one piece, upside-down. Printing time is 2hr 4min.
The TUSCAN column is 14cm. tall. The shaft and capital are printed separately. Printing times are: Shaft - 1hr 47min. Capital - 16min.
The IONIC column is 14.3cm. tall. The shaft and capital are printed separately, and the capital is printed in two halves on their sides. Printing times are: Shaft - 2hr. Capital (two halves printed at the same time) - 30min.
The CORINTHIAN column is 14.8cm. tall. The shaft and capital are printed separately, and the capital is printed in two halves on their sides. Printing times are: Shaft - 2hr 2min. Capital (two halves printed at the same time) - 31min.
The shafts (apart from the Doric which is printed in one piece with the capital,) have a peg at the top which fits into a slot in the capital. Capitals and shafts can then be permanently fixed together with a few dabs of superglue. (I use LePage's 'Gel Control'.) The times given are those taken by my Makerbot (Fifth Generation) printer.
