Description

2019-07-26: i just want to add some information since i had time to test these. There is a risk with some motors that these won't hold for the force of of full throttle. In fact, i see tendency of breaking the tracks with a full throttle acceleration. I even manage to break the motor gears once ;)

As i started to build this tank i soon realized that M3 x 45mm was not that easy or cheap to get hold off. I decided to order a pack of 100 bolts bot got bored waiting for them to arrive and started thinking about alternative solutions to this.

after a few different things tested i settled for this:

45mm pins with 6mm head and 3mm shaft, printed in 0.2mm layer height in PETG.
Pin lockers printed in PETG, the hole in these are 3mm on the surface and about 3.3mm in the bottom and locks on the pins layer structure.
A modified end track with smaller holes, i drilled this to 2.5mm and taped them for M3 and i use 2 x M3 x20mm to lock the tracks together.

I had the kinds pull and twist a small section of the tracks to test the durability, and it seem promising!

If the pin lockers are to loose, scale them down or put a drop of super glue on the end of the pin. if they are to tight, scale them down a bit.
