Description
Many college students receive over one hundred push notifications per day. With a constant barrage of notifications flooding the screens of our computers and smartphones, it has become increasingly difficult to cultivate a work environment conducive to productivity.
Working at a desk cluttered with various electronics and papers is a challenge on its own, so we set out to reduce the interruptions from smartphone, tablet, and desktop notifications by consolidating the information and delivering it in an attractive, unobtrusive way.
The FlipperFlapper, a retro, flip clock inspired desktop notification center, combines practical functionality with elegant, exposed mechanical design.
On the technical end, continuous-rotation SG90 servos work in tandem with limit switches to create a closed feedback-control loop, allowing software on the internet-connected ESP32 microcontroller to flip the flaps to the appropriate location upon receipt of a notification.
We hope you enjoy our submission to the Fusion360 design challenge.
