Description
I started creating this project to support my 7 year old daughter's science fair project and, because I noticed this kinds of models are even missing even too expensive to purchase, I decided to finish it and distribute them for free to everyone that wants to use it for educational purposes.
In creating this I used Neurothing's scanned ear components which I slightly improved for a better resolution.
All assembled parts are printed and trialed but I left part orientation as per CAD because this can constitute a STEM project from start to finish and I know there are schools that are using £D printers for educational purposes so I'm leaving the job of arranging the parts for printing to the final users.
Also, the project is coming with stencils to make painting easier. The writing related stencils are trialed, I did it myself with brushes and acrylics but it can be done much more easily using small painting sponges.
I also included stencils to enable spray painting of the base sections, these are not trialed but I believe they are working. The stencils are exposing for paining one area at a time and protects the other sections.
Some tolerances are tight, so be careful how much paint you are adding. Worst case, parts will fit by using a bit of force, which is fine.
The clip must be glued to the to of the ossicles and the whole assembly should be tied to the ossicles beam. If ossicles are too tight between eardrum and cochlea, you can scale down the part a bit.
The eardrum membrane is to be made out of plastic stretch wrapping foil, stretch it over the ear canal's end and fix it with the ring by pushing it hard to keeb the membrane in place.
Good luck!
