Description

I have been printing various size Lithophanes and wanted to be able to print boxes to display them in. I thought a parametric design would be useful, since they are different sizes, so I downloaded OpenSCAD and created this box. This is my first attempt at creating something with OpenSCAD, so comments on it would be welcome.

I have included the file for the lithophane pictured in case anyone would like it.

Lighting

I use USB powered COB LED light strings to illuminate my strings which I stick around the inside back of the box. This provides very uniform light for the lithophane. I solder a usb cord which has a on/off button and dimming functions which provides a nice finished look. Here are the links to what I have been using:

Update - March 19, 2022

I have uploaded an enhanced scad file that allows you to specify which wall of the box has the hole, the shape of hole and the location on the wall that the hole is at.

Update - March 21, 2022

I noticed that I forgot to uncomment the code to rotate and place the box on the bed that I had commented out during testing. It's back in there now so I have uploaded version 2.1 of the SCAD file.

Update - March 23, 2022

I updated the scad file to create the shelf in the shape of a triangle instead of a square in order to help with printing without needing supports.

Update - March 24, 2022

I have updated the scad file again to allow for engraving of information on the back of the box. Someone also commented that the box dimensions didn't match the lithograph I uploaded. I'm not sure how that happened, but it should be the correct size box now and I have named it to show that it goes with the sample lithograph.
