Description

Pattern changing object depending on the view direction

This object changes the pattern depending on the four view directions. You can see different symbols in the teaser image.

When you see the object from

  • Top: heart ❤️
  • Bottom: circle ⭕
  • Left: triangle🔺
  • Right: cross ❌

As the principle, it uses the lenticular lens.

Printing

When you print this object, you must use a 3D printer that supports multi-material, such as Stratasys Objet series. In this printing, I used the Object260 Connex3 printer and used Vero Clear, White, and Black as materials.

Create Custom Patterns

To create the STL file, I wrote a Python script to generate arbitrary patterns from images. This code runs with Blender Python API. You can try it by downloading the script.zip file.
