Description

While working on another project made from clear UV resin, I discovered that while a print tends to come out with a very rough surface and smoky appearance, a thin layer of acrylic clear coat can make it highly transparent. I decided to design a simple chess set based on a smoky vs. clear theme.

You will need to be careful adding structural supports under the knight's snout. Mine produced inconsistent results.

Also the board I made is just a sheet of plexiglass. I used 120, 150, and 220 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface, then used masking tape to define my squares and border before applying a few layers of clear coat, and it had the same effect as on the 3d printed pieces.
