Description

This Post references BMO - MESHTASTIC Solar Node v1.0

I forgot to post this. v1.0 ran a Heltec v32 Lora Board. I couldn't keep it running on 3 5V panels. So, I sat and thought. My initial "Solar Angle" was to satisfy Summer Sun angles in south central Texas. It being Winter when I designed v1.0, I researched the Sun angle for winter and summer months. I settled on the following design. I did concurrently switch to a RAK Wireless board, so yes, battery consumption went WAAAYYY down, However, I have been monitoring my Telemetry Data and this node has been up for right at 3 months, "online/operational" with no lapse on function, as well as not one dip below about 96% battery, even on SUN POOR days. If you need an array of Solar Panels with the small 5V panels listed, this design could be mounted anywhere to anything. I've designed it to stand proud of its mounting surface enough that it doesn't crash the panels into the mounting surface.

Original Printed in White ABS. Been in the air and On Air since Jan 25. Holding up well. 2 small hail storms, lots of wind, sun, rain, etc. Still going strong!

****EDIT**** Update... 11/1/2025, Has had only one outage since 1/2025 when the local Mesh group did a Net Meeting sort of thing and it crashed. I had to just restart it. Has been running ever since!
