Description

As my figurine collection grew, my desk couldn't hold them all, so I had to pack them into cardboard boxes and tuck them into a corner under my bed, making them true "collectibles." Then one day, I visited a museum and stumbled upon a beautifully designed traditional Chinese display shelf. It not only showcased various artworks simultaneously but also utilized space efficiently and flexibly. I thought that the ancients, when designing such practical display shelves, must have faced the same dilemma I did, a problem that still exists today.

So, I searched for display shelf designs on Maker World Congress and found several elegant Chinese-style shelves. Just as I was about to download one, a question suddenly popped into my head: my "collection" couldn't be satisfied with just simple display. Since traditional Chinese display shelves could hold many things, multi-tiered shelves were necessary. However, a drawback of traditional Chinese display shelves is that they cannot be expanded or stacked.

If there were too many, the desktop would feel cramped. Later, I saw retractable, stackable honeycomb display shelves, but a single shelf looked somewhat lonely in a small space. I thought it would be perfect to combine these two types of display shelves: one that's as elegant and spacious as a traditional Chinese display shelf, and another that's stackable and expandable like a honeycomb structure. So, I started designing this extendable and stackable display shelf, incorporating the features of both. After it was finished, I displayed all the little ornaments I had previously "collected" under my bed, and the effect was simply amazing!
